How Can We Improve The Nation's Health

... And Save £ Billions With One Simple Action?
Since its inception the UK's National Health Service, through the name given to it, has encouraged all of us to believe that we can eat what we like, drink what we like, live any lifestyle and if and when our health fails, we can go along to the NHS and it will give us back our health.

Is this how it is?

The NHS is an excellent first aid service both in terms of treatment and the speed at which help can be given to those in emergencies.

It is an efficient surgery service for those who feel that there is no alternative.

The NHS is a care service and is staffed by an army of generally dedicated and extremely caring individuals.

However, it does not and never can do anything to make good on the promise implied by the name that “It dispenses health”. Only the body does that – and only if we work in harmony with its processes and avoid substances which interfere with its workings.

If the NHS was a commercial company it would have been sued out of existence long ago, by those who have lost their health, for failing to deliver on the promise that the name implies. And in these days of increasing litigation how long will it be before clever lawyers come up with a way to sue the NHS on behalf of sick clients on that basis? And if one does it, who is to say that there won’t be literally thousands more?

The obvious answer to saving the monumental costs of being sued by thousands for a misleading name is to change that name and use one which tells it like it is. The truth is that most of its effort goes into providing an Emergency and Care Service and its name surely should reflect that.

Even without being sued, many consider that the government is severely under-funding the service. With an ageing population, needing more and more care in the future, how is it going to cope?

The fact is, if we remove the perceived option which most people seem to think they have of “going along to the NHS to have something done, after which my health will be good” people will be more encouraged to take personal responsibility. They will be encouraged to eat better, drink more appropriate liquids, cut out smoking, do more exercise and do whatever else aids their health. And then they won’t contact the NHS (or whatever it is called) so frequently! How much could that save?

This campaign is designed to bring about that name change with a view to helping the nation’s health to be improved and to hopefully save those billions.
Please send a copy of this as an e-mail to the government at: The House of Commons, London SW1A 0PW with your own name attached, and a copy to your local MP.
If you don’t know who your MP is you can find his/her name and contact details by going to: www.locata.co.uk/commons and typing in your own post code.
If you will also commit to finding two others who will do the same as you, and the commitment is duplicated, say, just 24 times, then a message to the government can be sent which is so powerful that they will find it very hard to ignore it.

Will you do your part?
